The Social Media Avoidance Project is COMPLETE

On December 5th I completed the twelve month cycle of my SOCIAL MEDIA AVOIDANCE PROJECT album. Earlier that week I released the Christmas song, Early Christmas This Year, and on the Friday I released all twelve songs written and released this year as an album, complete with a bonus track. A new rendition of my ACADEMY MORTICIANS classic from Consumerism Is An STD, There Must Be More Than This To Life.

You can get it from Bandcamp here but it is available to stream and download everywhere.

I think this album is some of my best ever work (even if it didn’t ultimately help me avoid social media. If anything, I had to use it more to promote the songs and album each month, as detailed in my song for November….)

Today I also re-released under the Strangely Shaped By Fathers name the previous synth-inspired album I released in 2023, originally under my own name, Playing With Electricity. It turned out no-one knows DaN McKee as a musician, but some people actually listen to and like Strangely Shaped By Fathers. So it makes more sense this way to fold the old release into the SSBF catalogue now SSBF is not just guitar and bass-led punk.

Currently it’s only available on Bandcamp under the SSBF name, but it will be rolled out across all streaming services by the end of the week.

Speaking of awesome re-releases available now on Bandcamp, albeit completely unrelated to my own music, anyone who knows me knows of my love of Canadian punk legends NoMeansNo. Well — everything they ever did is now back available in digital form. Check it out!
